Das Cragganmore Einzelfass #601269 wurde in 1985 destilliert und in ein Refill American Oak Hogshead gef\u00fcllt. Nach 38 Jahren wurde der Whisky in 2023 mit 45.3% vol. f\u00fcr Wu DRAM Clan und Hong Kong Whisky Fellows abgef\u00fcllt als Teil des Cask of Distinction Programms von Diageo.

Streng limitierte Einzelfassabf\u00fcllung von nur 174 Flaschen! F\u00fcr Deutschland sind am Ende 36 Flaschen geblieben, die meisten davon bereits an Sammler und Geniesser verkauft.<\/p>\n

Nose:<\/strong> a round and seductive profile, with a prominent role for beeswax and light breakfast honey, almond milk and soft vanilla cake. Waxed paper. Hints of chamomile tea, a creamy maltiness and subtle guava. Then some pollen, drops of vegetal oil and a little lime peelings. The feeling of \u2018old vanilla\u2019 grows stronger over time. Total beauty.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mouth:<\/strong> this lovely beehive-y character is here again, in full force. Stunning oozing waxy notes, paraffin and honey (acacia?). Then a cake-y sweetness, even a hint of pastel de nata. Back to resins, yellow jam and dried wildflowers \u2013 maybe potpourri like you get in 50+ year old malts sometimes. Just a hint of creamy chalk, somehow, with mango yoghurt.<\/em><\/p>\n

Finish:<\/strong> long, back to light resinous notes, light syrupy notes, natural corn flakes, pollen and surprisingly mild oak spice.<\/em><\/p>\n

The waxy and balmy texture is just perfect. The intangible fruity echoes too. You know, some of the nicest old malts I\u2019ve had were not overtly fruity so it\u2019s not a must. Overall this is a complex, inviting old malt. I thought I had one of the nicest Cragganmore releases in my own collection (the top-ranked 1973 Special Release<\/a>) but this is better.<\/em><\/p>\n
